Overland Expo – Here we go for 2014!
Just as the Overland Expo home page (www.overlandexpo.com) suggests: “What do you… dream?”
This is the year of dreams; some dreams may come true while others are just beginning. Come join thousands of your closest overlanding friends in sharing stories, trading ideas about gear (both big and small), and learning the techniques on making those dreams a reality.
Although I am absolutely biased, because not only do I believe in this event, I now work with the incredible team that puts this event together, Overland Expo is a weekend worth getting excited about. Beyond my daily duties, I will be teaching classes about: On the Road Digital Workflow (my years as a digital tech combined with travel mishaps bring this class to life), Choose an Adventure Motorcycle (brought to you by my years of having a love / hate with my KLR and knowing what else is out there because of so), and Overcoming the Fear of First Steps of Solo Travel (really, the title says it all). I am just one of more than 100 instructors / presenters at this years event, speaking on a wide variety of topics.
In addition to all of that, the photo book of my trip from Los Angeles to Ushuaia will finally be available! (More on that later.) It’s been a busy year and we are barely at the halfway mark.
If you can make it out to the Flagstaff, AZ area May 16-18, 2014, come join the fun. I hope to see many of you there.
For a little inspiration, here are some images from OX2013:
- You can take it with you. You just have to engineer a clever way to pack it.
- Combining old traditions with new technology
- Adventure Trio’s popular demos
- Watch the evening Film Festival
- Meet world travelers like Ana and Pablo (viajeros4x4x4.com)
- Vehicles of all sizes..
- Many ways to get to Flagstaff
- And drool over motorbikes galore

No like or share buttons? How am I supposed to like and share? No buttons is making me sad. Why are you making me sad, Alison? Why?
p.s. See you at the expo, even though you are making me sad.
Because I wanted to. See look, I did a good job.
Hi Alison,
I plan on attending the overland expo in Arizona. Hope to meet you there and maybe attend your digital workflow class.
I will be going from the expo to Mexico and on down through Central and South America on ye olde and trusty KLR 650. Well, I hope it is trusty, I only bought it recently second hand.
Anyway, hope to catch you at the expo and pick your brains a bit on the trip ahead.
Now, I suppose I better start a blog…
Kind regards
Mike Stenhouse
Hi Mike – Definitely stop by and say hi at the Expo! A KLR650 is a good moto to take. (At least it is easy to fix when it breaks.) Sounds like the beginning of a great trip! Have fun, and yes, start that blog now, cause you won’t after you hit the road. Cheers, A
